Signed and shared, good luck with your petition, so sad that the council would even consider closing down this facility.

I have not signed. Not because I don't believe in the cause but I would worry the council will ignore the petition as they will be able to see the location of voters and reject the whole thing due to the number of votes not in the locality.

Given this seems such a stupid way to save money I also wonder if the council are not pulling a trick. Come up with the worst thing that they can think of when it comes to leisure facilities. There is a campaign, they relent but still have to save money so cut services elsewhere. Everyone feels they have "won" as they leisure centre is saved but the council still get to make their cuts elsewhere. Everyone feels bad about the new cuts but at least they saved the leisure centre.

Totally understand and thank you for replying. What they did was agree reduced hours for 3 years but that was less than a year ago so totally unfair to commit then pull back. It's a very busy centre and vital to lots of groups including special needs groups who use it a lot (has a lift, zero entry pool etc). The council will always make cuts but this one cant be allowed to progress.

Signed up! Perhaps some of these councils could preferably save money by getting rid of some of the overpaid, incompetent executives that seem to prevail!

Wonder what they’ll do with it ? Could they be planning to sell the land to property developers ?

They want this one to close so that one 15 mins along the road (newer) will be busier but the newer one isnt a leisure pool at all. We train there too and its lovely but very different, doesnt have a car park and isnt very disabled friendly to say the least. Not sure what they would do with it after that. The land it's on isnt probably ideal for housing but who knows.
