We have many similar photos, we went in 1996 and 1998. I was just looking at some yesterday.

Maybe someone should start a thread posting old photos of Orlando on they really are interesting to look at.

Thanks for reading folks.
A thread for old photos of Orlando sounds like a good idea. I think there was one a while back which is what prompted me to post these as a sort of photo trip report. But another one would be good.

We had our second visit to Orlando in June 1997 ( the first in 1995) and remember the castle as a cake. Brings back some happy memories. I also remember IOA being built , happy days

Life was so much simpler back then. Only 5 parks to visit (not including Busch Gardens over on the coast). No fastpasses, no prebooking on the internet, no buying tickets months beforehand. Just book a flight and hotel, turn up, buy tickets over there, easily do all the parks in 2 weeks. Whereas nowadays it feels like you have to plan everything in minute detail.

Just come across this - 1997 was our first year too! Loved your photos and remember well when you had to economise on how many photos you could take. Then wait for them to be developed and half of them were rubbish anyway!
These are great. I liked the pink castle, but the skyway was the work of the devil. I cried and asked to be let off (aged 36!) but they made me stay on it till the end. My children laughed :-(

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this!
My first visit was 1997 too, in June also staying at the Gateway Inn. Seeing your pics just brought back some wonderful memories for me. One of my earliest memories is arriving on I Drive for the first time ever and seeing FAO Schwartz and thinking 'wow'! And the pic of the flintstones car, reminded me of how much I used to love the old Jetson's ride then coming off and posing by Fred flintstones car. Thank you for posting ~Louise x

Loved seeing these photos. My first trip was in march/April 1997 when I was 13. I remember a fair bit and definitely that the castle looked like that!
Thank you for posting |
