Confused about booking accommodation for Yosemite
Help!
So I understand that accommodation in the park gets booked up quick and I also thought from threads on here you couldn't book until a year out however Booking.com I seem to be able to book for August 2018, however some are showing as sold out . How are Booking.com selling the rooms if officially you can't book until a year before? Edited to add: Okay I see those ones are outside of the park. The other snag is I don't really know what dates I will be there until I can book flights which won't be until September - at which point I'm worried I will have missed the accommodation I want. Do I just take a punt, book something and hope I can fit flights in with it? Why is this so complex

sorry but cant answer the question as we are in the same boat - plan 2 nights in Yosemite but not certain of dates until I have booked the flights in September. I think sites like booking.com show as no availability as the rooms haven't actually been released as yet. Cant say for certain this would be the case here but I am hoping so!

We booked our flights to California for August in September.
The accomodation at Half Dome Village was booked via the official site within a few weeks, so still probably 10 to 11 months out. travelyosemite/lodgin...ng-experience/

Last years trip I booked my Yosemite accommodation in August 2015 (a year out) and then the flight in February 2016! We just worked our itinerary around the date that we booked. We knew for the time of year we wanted to visit that if we didn't book we would be waiting on cancellations. Other times of year things sell a little more slowly.

If you are seeking accommodation within the ACTUAL park then you can book 366 days in advance:

If you know rough dates I would book a week where you want to stay now. You only pay one nights accommodation as a deposit and cancel the nights you don't need once flights are sorted. And if you cancel whole thing it is fully refunded.
