Mobile Upgrade universal to annual pass question

Not sure if any of you know the answer to this. If I have a 14day ticket to Universal and I wish to upgrade to an annual pass do I need to do it before I use the ticket or can I do it anytime before the ticket expires?

Anytime before the ticket expires, and the AP is valid from the first day you use the original 14 day ticket.

The first time we upgraded we went into the park and went straight to guest services off of sunset Boulevard, it’s down by the toilets and enquires there about upgrading they quoted a very good price so we upgraded then and there, you will find that diff places around universal will quote different prices

Are you staying onsite ?

if you do, and it's not too late in the evening when you get there, you can try at the attraction desk in the lobby of your hotel.

get a quote, and as the above poster said, if it sounds good, then go for it. If not, wait and try at guest relations in a park

if you're not staying onsite, disregard this comment

At the Studios, your guest relations will be on the right after you enter. Turn right, and backtrack a bit, you'll see the guest relations next to a flight of stairs going up, with a canopy

At IoA, it's also on the right after you enter, but this time straight ahead on the right, past the rickshaw

if you have the 3 parks explorer ticket, and you only want to get a 2 parks AP, make sure you upgrade before going to VB (you'll lose that park) but if you go to that park, the Team Members may insist you upgraded to a 3 parks AP

as others have said, it doesn't matter when you upgrade, but if you go for higher tier APs (preferred and premier) your discounts kick in as soon as you upgrade, so better do it sooner than later and enjoy the perks

We’re arriving early though so maybe the desk in hotel won’t be open. Thanks for all the advice 👍

We just did ours at Guest Services IoA, they were so helpful. We upgraded 5 14 day 2 park tickets to 4 power and 1 preferred, total cost $50. They advised us to leave the park and Re-enter with the preferred that day to make sure it’s activated for free parking on the next visit.

They actually wouldn’t change to seasonal passes as they’d have to refund us the difference, which they couldn’t do. They said the power pass was pretty much the same price and the preferred $50 more. I have no idea how they worked it out but happy days for us, we will try get across again in October for another trip. We also saved on food/merchandise while we were there.

yup, APs (2 parks) are not that expensive compared to 14 days tickets

now that's because the tickets were 2 parks

we currently get 3 parks for the price of 2, and some TMs will insist you upgraded to 3 parks AP (if you used any VB entry )

if that had been the case, the 3rd park is $99 a pop, so that upgrade would have cost around $550 for the 5 of them, and that would have been a whole other ball game

2 parks 14 days tickets to 2 parks AP is really a no brainer if you find the right TM at the right time (some will quote better than others, don't ask why) especially since the above poster not only got their whole family APs for $50 but will also save so much more on parking, merch and dining discounts
