BA exec club query
So I’m currently bronze status and my tier collection ends on 8 July. My bronze card expires end of August.
We fly 11 July - will we still have bronze status benefits? Do they end on tier collection date or card end date? Thanks in advance Jules

AFAK it will expire when the tier points expire, although, it all depends when you achieved Bronze.
In my example I achieved Bronze in November 2018 and my Tier points Expire in July, my Bronze status ends in July 2020, annoyingly I travel in August and I'm not doing enough EU trips to cover it these days!

Your Bronze status benefits will apply until the card expires at the end of August, so will still be in place when you fly. However, any tier points earned for flights taken after 8 July will be credited to your new collection year.
This doesn’t sound right. BA Tier Point collection years always end on the 8th of a month, and the card/benefits expire at the end of the following month (the exception is when you change tier mid-year, as you did in Nov 2018, BA generously gives the higher status for the remainder of the current membership year and all of the following membership year - it’s possible to get virtually 2 years of status this way). If your tier point collection year ends on 8 July, your card and benefits would be valid until the end of August. Benefits would only expire in July If the tier point collection year ended on 08 June. Log into your BAEC account, on the account summary page, on the right under the My Tier Points figure is should say, “year ends 8 xxx 2020”. What month does it show? Edited at 01:08 PM. |

Thanks Peko - that means we'll get seat selection 7 days out which makes a difference as I wont worry about pre-booking seats and save some money!

Just as an aside, if you were close to retaining bronze and these flights would get you over the line, BAEC does allow two week extensions for people to retain status (i.e. flights taken in the two weeks after 8 July could be credited to the current year). You have to call and ask, and the two weeks is not extendable or flexible, but it is usually agreed. Obviously only worth doing if you are taking flights within that period which would make a difference to your status.

Thank you, I was under the impression it ended when the points expire, so I should be OK with my flight on the 19th Aug
