If you are hiring a car, try different airports, we were going with Virgin, but they were way more expensive than we were planning this year, ended up saving thousands flying to Tampa with BA.
So it's worth trying Sanford and Tampa as your destinations on sites like sky scanner etc |

Just keep checking the prices regularly. They will come down, just can't guarantee when. Thomson prices come down considerably but it means leaving it a week or two before you intend to depart so it can make your heart pound a bit! I am setting aside about £1,000.00 for flights for 2 adults for next May.

I hate to say but I don't think Virgin will come down. In 2013 we went at Easter and booked a package with Virgin 18 months in advance for £850 each. My bil and partner fancied coming but by then the packages had gone up so they decided to wait until the 11 month mark and book flights then... they stayed between £100-1200pp from release until we went so they didn't come with us in the end. I think just look around as you may get a bargain indirect with another airline.

I use expedia, netflights, skyscanner, kayak, travelsupermarket to look for flight prices.
Have flown VA twice before as part of a package, but never booked them as flights only as I find they are always the most expensive. Having flown with them as well as other companies, I certainly wouldn't pay more for them as I find them no better than anyone else - quality, comfort, facilities wise etc. In fact I'd rate them at the lower end of the companies we've used. For me when booking flights, the main issue is price, as well as dates, flight times etc. The thing I love about booking DIY is I can pick and choose these to suit us. Di x

As mentioned previously, flights for Easter next year are just starting to come out - I'm hoping for 26th March - 16th April but the return flights haven't been released yet so are showing as ridiculously expensive, even indirect. I'm not even going to search properly until next week, and then maybe not book until Sept/Oct as I believe BA have a sale on around then? I'm hoping to go indirect either PE or Business if possible within budget (would like under £900pp... ).
You just need to be patient for little bit longer! |

If you need a car, BA fly drive is definitely worth a look. We're doing one in March and the cost was only about £20 more than flights only, plus we only had to pay a deposit now. BA sales are always worth a look too.

We managed to bookaat min for Easter via virgin our flights were 900 each premium. We literally got last premium seats. Thomas Cook and ba sold out everything completely. I would book as far in advance as possible!
