We used to do a big party every year but havent for the last few years , looks like everyone has given you food ideas , we did spooky food , but also games for adults and kids, such as
Pin the nose on the witch ( like pin the tail on the donkey)
Pumpkin bowling ( use 6 x2 litre plastic bottles put about an inch of water in and arrange them in a V ,3 2 1,use a small pumpkin as a ball and try to knock them over ... its not easy as the pumpkin goes off at an angle. Have 3 goes and score 1 point for each bottle you knock over max 18 points
Halloween quiz
Get everyone to bring a carved pumpkin with prize for the best , give everyone a slip of paper and vote for the best
Prizes for best costumes
Then go all out with the decor

For dinner we had eyeball pizza and brain jelly (both from M&S) and I wrapped some sausages with pastry to look like mummies. Think I enjoyed it more than my son!

I made my little nephews a cemetery cake and Frankenstein crispy cake heads last year in lieu of being able to trick and treat.

I’ll have to see if I can find pics!

I used to do them for kids when DS was younger
Apart from things already mentioned
I used to cover everything in black plastic bags Dining chairs - the windows .Table and decorate with pumpkins and that spider web stuff you can buy draped from everywhere
Time consuming but very effective and cheap and helps minimise mess as you can simply throw it away ( not environmentally friendly I know )
I would also buy one of those plastic cauldrons and fill with plastic bats spiders etc and some chocolate if it was wrapped (eye balls etc) pour a couple of made up jellies over the top and get the kids to do trick or treat .
They loved it .
