I just make a cheese pastry them make mince pies as normal or use the same cheese pastry for apple pie it has to be strong cheese

Apologies for the delay. I reuse clean sterilised jars. Its written in Lbs & oz as its been passed down.
Caramelised onion chutney: 3Lbs red onions peeled thin sliced 12oz dark brown sugar 3 tablespoons olive oil (not virgin) Juice 1 lemon 1 teaspoon garlic powder 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1 teaspoon ground coriander 1 teaspoon ground cloves 2 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon ground black pepper 3 tablespoons balsamic vinegar 3 fluid oz malt vinegar Heat oil cook onions for 5 mins medium to low heat don't burn Add vinegars lemon juice and all spices cook 5 mins Add sugar bring to boil and simmer until reduced approx 3hrs. You can double it to make more. Keeps for 6months in sealed jars. Best if left to mature for a month before eating.

so excited
I use a very similar onion chutney recipie as a base for a quiche I just make my base blind bake it ( you can use a pre made case ) mix my basic egg quiche mix stir in the chutney and wack in the oven With a pre made pastry case and the chutney a home made quick lunch or dinner with a nice salad in less than an hour fir me around 40 mins Withna glass of chilled white wine amazing |
