Our collie cross was the runt. Outlived them all - we had her until she was 18 1/2. I really wouldn’t worry. This was her at 18.

We had two sisters from a litter of five shih tzus; the one was the real baby of the litter, she was tiny. The bigger sister unfortunately passed away at 8, while we only lost the little one last June at the old age of 16.5! She had an accident and ended up with an eye ulcer that wouldn’t heal and was affecting her quality of life (unfortunately it wasn’t possible to operate partly due to her age), but if it weren’t for that then she might have still been here now!

Nearly home now. Had a lovely time, 9 Sheltie pups all fighting for attention. It was amazing plus a 9 week old Pomeranian (so). She is tiny but very able. No trouble with car journey, think she just wants to get out and wander around . Pics to follow xx

We kept the “runt” of our last litter. Turns out she isn’t a runt at all, she just has her Mum’s frame whereas the other girls all took after their Dad. Some of the boys also took after Mum but, being boys, they are bigger.
When they were feeding from Mum, we worried about her as she was quite a bit smaller than all of the others, but as soon as they went onto solid food, she ate like a champ and she still does! She’s 5 now and absolutely perfect 😍 We also kept the runt of our first litter. He was another one who couldn’t get the hang of feeding from Mum but was great once he found solid food, and went on to be a strapping lad. He sadly died last year aged 7, from a nasal cavity tumour. Nothing to do with his start in life though, just darned awful luck 😢

Kate, sorry about your boy. My daughter has a friend whose 9 year dog has this problem xx
Our nameless pup is doing great, 1st morning , she’s up the stairs, loves toileting outside. Loves her food, and is pretty confident . But I’m wondering what to do when we need to leave her. Will go out for longer gradually, I’m exhausted lol xx |
