Mickey Xmas decoration and some assistance.

Hi Disney people,

My wife found this on Facebook, someone in the US has made this, as we love to decorate the outside of the house at Christmas and would love to make one.

The question I wanted to ask is that does anyone have any ideas where I can get the large hoop, I have googled it to death but I'm not getting anything (although that might be I am just not searching for the right thing)

Cheers

Andy

A pool noodle or hoola hoop might work. I've got a small version I got from Primark a couple of years ago.

Good luck and please share finished product xx

A hula hoop? Or a swim noodle?
Good luck with your challenge! 😊

You need a pool noodle or hula hoop 2 10 inch wire hoop wreath forms try hobby lobby or amazon or hobby craft ever green small wreaths( they come flat but don’t worry they go circular and fluff out great )
About 35/40 feet of evergreen garland Hobby Craft cheap garland
Cable ties battery lights and baubles
Cover the hoop noodle In the ever green garland and fluff every branch of the garland
Best to lay out on the floor then place the smaller Ears and zip tie or wire together I’d use both then weave and secure the lights in you can use the branches of the ever green or florist wire hobby craft do it in pre cut lengths check out lights for fun for good battery light
Use cheap as chips baubles and attach to the complete form with florist wire
It looks impossible/ impressive but it’s the easiest big impact wreath ever it’s kust making sure you wire zip tie the whole thing together securely
Hanging use command hooks loads of them
Oh flatten the ears a bit to attach then right to the hula hoop
You can also use red black tulle for the Mickey form
If you need any help just ask
Just set it out wire do a dummy run and if it’s not just right readjust
Have fun and show us the results
Oh have I made it too detailed oops the amouyof ever green garland is for the hula hoop and non greened wire rings if you want it to look full

Using what I’ve said this will be way to wide for a front door but looks great on a garage door you have no Intention or need to open
Front door version 12 inch wire wreath and 5/6 inch ears wire forms

Oh if using a pool noodle do not use hot glue you will end up with a sticky leathal hot mess
I do use the foam pipe laging stuff for floral / wreath making if hot glue is not needed
E65 will work on foam available on amazon

Gryff has given excellent instructions, I would just add, years ago I found it difficult getting Garland wrapped around a hula hoop, I couldn’t get it tight enough to not be “slippy and gappy” I popped some grey foam pipe lagging around the hula hoop. This made it a bit thicker and easier to get the Garland around.

Thanks Gryff, that is some fantastic advice, I'll be ordering some stuff and will post some pictures when I get it sorted
