Help with timings
Idea is a road trip type of holiday, postponed from a few years ago.
Will have 4 kids, 3 adults. We usually do Orlando and the kids love the parks but want to try something different... Puzzle this one out for me if you please: 1.Fly into Key West. Flight arrives so late that it's basically just bedtime. Wanted to do Mallory Square sunset and a sunset sail so that keeps us there for 3 nights, inc arrival night which is a bit long. Plan for Key West is: Butterfly Farm, Conch train, Hemingway house and the two sunsets. So if we cut a sunset one full day would do it but I would love to do both. Then head up the Keys and end up in Miami, and then on up Gulf Coast. The only way to cut that night in KW is: 2. Fly into Miami, arrive 14.15 or so and boot it down to KW for Mallory Square. Now this is a risk as if flight is delayed or any other delay it won't work. Plus we will be exhausted and last thing we will want to do it visit a busy tourist spot after hoofing it transatlantic and 4 hours drive. Or 3. Fly into Miami. Stay the night. Do the Miami Beach tour that morning and then head down the Keys. The "con" here is that we have a one night in Miami and then KW and then back to Miami... which again feels like a lot of moving around. In your view, and bearing in mind low boredom thresholds and a dislike of sitting in the car, what would you do? Or any option D?

Start in Miami and do your beach tour on the first morning and then work your way along they keys and down to Key West? That way, it cuts down on your first afternoon driving, and by the time you get down to Key West, you can appreciate the sunset more than if you were tired.
However, rather than drive back up to Miami you could ditch the car in Key West and get the boat over to Naples, pick up another car there for the Gulf Coast part of your holiday. Saves a very long and boring drive along Alligator Alley and the boat gives a different adventure.
