Party dress that don't cost the earth?

Completely not holiday or Disney related BUT can anyone recommend a shop/website (UK based) that sells nice party dresses that are reasonably cheap. I'm not a dressy sort of person but work crimbo do is black tie so will need a spangly frock but I don't want to spend loads as it'll get worn once!

Firstly you do not need a swanky sparkly frock
A lovely sparkly god knows what they are called this season cat suit ,Jump suit , all in one
Heels you are comfortable in and some kind of wrap, sparkly bag and cheap jewellery and you will feel more tan a million dollars than every one else who feels they have to wear a posh frock and if asked you wanted to wear something that was not throwaway fashion but that you will wear again and again
I’ve a navy thingy I’ve worn to a wedding , posh do , christening , anniversary dinner in a swanky hotel and out for a causual Sunday lunch with friends or at the garden centre with the girls with a denim jacket slung on the top but I may be a lot older than you and don’t care my go to is a very dark navy £29/99 from Asda
Always had compliments when I wear it/

Think I may have tried it on yesterday. I liked it actually but it was an odd length on me.

Yeah I get you. I'm not really a dress up type. I live in jeans and t-shirts or gym kit BUT I've lost almost 7st over lockdown and slot of work people haven't seen me since March 2020 so I doo feel like I want a dress for this one as I feel a bit more confident to wear one but don't want to spend a fortune as I don't really go out/places to re-wear it. I suppose I could always put on eBay/market place afterwards as our party is at end of Nov so someone else may get a bargain for their crimbo do!

Yep start/looking in the charity shops because those at the other end who are sporting lockdown weight will be cleaning out the wardrobe about now as they realise Party season ; online office from your/waist up in full battle dress as DIL one describes it isn’t what you’d want to be seen in in the flesh ( she’s also lost/weight and picked up a beautiful beaded vintage cocktail dress in a charity shop in Edinburgh for £50
