Is a Disney Honeymoon for us?

We had a Disney honeymoon and did the following:

Stayed at the Floridays for 2 weeks in a 2 bed apt. 8 minute drive to Disney and about a 15 minute drive to Universal, Sea World was down the road. Was extremely quiet and we could see Epcot from our room so got to watch the fireworks every night which was brilliant.

2 of the nights we spent at the Grand Floridian, it was fantastic. I told them we were celebrating and they upgraded us to Concierge main building and we stayed in one of the honeymoon suites. We had a view of the Castle directly in front of us which was amazing.

We spent the 2 weeks doing the parks, relaxing by the pool, shopping, eating and didn't worry about budget as we'd paid everything off beforehand. By not staying in Disney (originally booked the Poly) we were able to also afford to fly Premium in the bubble which was a fantastic experience as we had a fab crew.

We went in April/May time when it was really quiet. Got to the parks for 9 and had done them by 1, went back to the hotel and then relaxed by the pool. It was a perfect balance. We could have fitted in a day at the beach we reckon but I got too wrapped up in shopping, hehe.

We're going there on our Honeymoon Nov 2010! We didn't even had any other options this was the only place for us.

We're staying in SSR, its one of the more tranquil resorts and we love its closeness to Downtown Disney which is were we would spend alot of our evenings.

As you can see loads of ppl go to Disney on honeymoon, so if its where you want to be then go right ahead and join the club. We'll all help you out as best we can.

We are having a Disneymoon after our Disney Wedding. We have been to Disney several times before but adding some extra touches to make this trip special, e.g. Cirque du Soleil, 1 night at Hard Rock Hotel, Keys to the Kingdom tour etc
We are planning to stay at Old Key West and simply cannot wait
We are going for 3 weeks so we can squeeze everything in that we want to do and also to make it different again. It doesn't actually add very much at all to the price in comparison to overall costs so we think it's worth it!
Plus if you go next September you'll get free DDP with your Deluxe hotel so it's a saving!

We are having a Disney honeymoon, I would suggest staying at one of the boardwalk area hotels, really romantic with bars etc in walking distance as well as epcot and Hollywood studios. The dolphin is really reasonable were paying £100 a night and has 5 pools, beach, bars and restaurants (including a large pool bar).

Were also going on a 7 night western Caribbean cruise for a week of relaxation (and visiting new places). Have you thought about a cruise?

We didn't thi k we would be getting married for a few years yet so we spent two weeks in wdw to celebrate our engagement last September and had a great time. We stayed at Saratoga springs which was great, as others have said very tranquil and a bit more grown up compared to some other resorts.

As the parks were so quiet in September we would enjoy a bit of a lie in and enjoy breakfast on the balcony before heading to the parks at about 11am for a nice relaxed day before heading back to the resort to get changed for dinner. As we were on ddp we did quite a lot of signature dining and booked most meals for 8:30pm at the earliest when it was mainly couples or families with older kids eating. After dinner we would either head to a park with emh, go back to the resort and walk over to dtd for a few drinks or take a late night swim. We found that late evenings the quiet pools were either very quiet or absolutely deserted so we would grab a bottle of wine and enjoy having the pool to ourselves until late.

It really was a lovely relaxed, grown up stay with lots of great food and despite lots of late nights and lie ins we still managed to do everything in the parks as they were so quiet. We loved it so much we're going back for 3 weeks for our wedding and honeymoon next year.

Thanks for all the great advice, really appreciate it and I think we are now leaning towards a Disneymoon! The location to/in Disney, the DDP and the Extra Hours Magic means we can get everything done and also have time to relax a bit and enjoy each others company and when we get bored of each other its straigh over to Expedition Everest

Saratoga Springs looks great but we think we would prefer to stay in one of the actual hotels as apposed to a villa which means we may have to put up with more kids but I cant see that being a problem in September.

Now, the only problem is picking the hotel! The Grand Floridian looks amazing but unless people are extremely generous with their wedding gifts I think its out of budget So going to most problaby be looking at the Yacht Club, Boardwalk Inn or Wilderness Lodge. Is there any reason the WL is quite a bit cheaper than the other 2?

Im toying with the idea of doing a few nights in a Universal hotel too, anyone done this or would it be better just to hire a car for a few days and drive to Universal, IOA, Seaworld and no doubt a day or 2 shopping

Edit: Just had a look at the Contemporary Resort and it looks really nice too. We had intitally dismissed it as one of the check in staff was quite rude to Louise when we asked for directions to The California Grill but I may have to show her the pictures to see if she would change her mind.

Just a quick update to this thread for anyone who helped me out, I think we have decided to go to the Beach Club Resort for 2 weeks. Looking likely that we'll go the week the kids go back to school in September so it should be nice and quiet.

Think were going to book it all with Virgin as on top of the wedding I dont want any added stress!
