Not right. There are two possible scenarios here:

1. Your domestic (BA) flight and international (VS) are on the same ticket. This is quite possible, VS sells domestic connections on BA. In this event, your bags will be checked through from MAN-BOS (the tags attached at MAN should have both LHR and BOS printed on them), you don't collect them at LHR, and you can transfer to T3 using the airside buses.
   
2. Your domestic and international flights are on separate tickets (hopefully with a significant time between them to allow for delays/cancellations, and contingency plans for other flights to get to LHR in time). In this event, you have to collect your bags at LHR, go landside and take either the tube or Heathrow Express across to T3, where you will drop bags with VS and clear security in the normal departures area rather than connections.
