Really interesting reading your replies.

I've obviously learned from this about the baggage drop off for virgin but is there any difference for onsite guests?

We're staying at AKL and on our last day flight isn't until 6pm ish so even though we are flying with virgin do they having a different option for on site guest?

nope take your bags to the drop off at Disney Springs or to the airport.

we are staying at POR and will head to DS to drop them off, have some breakfast then head for some last few hours riding a few rides before heading to the airport . flight is around 6:30pm

No difference for onsite guests. If you want to use it and don't have a car, then you'll need to catch a taxi big enough for all your luggage and everyone in your party.

We stay onsite without a car and never bother with it, even though we fly with Virgin. We get bell services to collect our bags first thing and then head straight out to a park for the day. We get back to the resort around an hour before the Magical Express picks up, get our bags back from bell services and drop them off at the airport. We find that works better for us, plus saves us $40 paying for DS check in (we fly with Virgin by don't book through VH) and the cost of the taxi. We do tip bell services though

We are going to check out early. Head to AK to check out Pandora as it's opening a few days before. Head to Disney Springs for a couple of hours to blow any remaining credits and then will head to the airport around 4pm. Before we've done early check in at Disney Springs and then stayed around by the pool. Wasted day.

I treat the last day the same as all the other days as otherwise it feels like a lost day. Last time onsite (AKL) was having bell services collect the luggage and keep it for the day. Then into MK for FP and any other rides we could get onto. An early lunch (11:30) at BOG and using the last of the credits in the candy store on Main Street. Back to the resort for a couple of hours (and cocktails) at the pool. It was bliss!

The only thing I'll do differently next time is pick up some food for supper as its a long time from lunch to plane food coming round and the options at Orlando airport were pretty poor.

Last year we checked out our hotel at 7am, put the suitcases in the boot of the car, then got the bus to Hollywood Studios for the morning. We then went back to the hotel, picked the car up, drove to a sports bar to watch some Premier League football close to I-Drive. After that, we had time for 2 rounds of mini golf in the sun, taking in every moment, then drove to the airport around 4pm for a 6:30pm flight

We always hit Magic Kingdom on our last day, normally leave just before the parade and begin our slow journey to the airport
