is there any mileage in trying a professional body like ATOL or the like? What about contacting Simon Calder, Which, MSE, Watchdog etc? So wrong what they're doing.

I advised them I would take it "further" if they did not agree and gave them one more chance. I think Rip Off Britain were asking for stories on airlines ripping people off.

Virgin did the same to us for our flights  We booked the early flight from Manchester they then cancelled that flight and put us on the later one which like you say the later one is always cheaper Then I noticed they had changed our return flight to the day after which we couldn't do so we have had to knock a day off our holiday and come home a day earlier. Virgin just told us they can make changes anytime and it's in their T&C. We sent email after email of complaint to the CEO and got jack **** from them so to someone who got well compensated for their flights well done. We have lost a day's villa money, car hire & Parking at Manchester as these were booked and paid for at the time of booking and couldn't claim off insurance as I hadn't got insurance sorted back then.
How Virgin handled this I think was disgraceful and more so by hiding behind their T&C. |

Just a thought on this - we also booked with VH and I recently paid off the flight balance in order for the tickets to be issued early. This was so that we could upgrade using miles. I wonder if having the tickets issued and 'finalised' makes a difference to these random changes they can make? I wouldn't be impressed if I lost my upgrade!

Getting Excited
|
We hadn't a similar issue with a different company. We spent ages going backwards and forward arguing, eventually we emailed them copying in Watchdog (I don't know if that is still on any more?) as well as local & national newspapers-eventually they backed down and refunded us.
Good luck! |

This article provides some advice about airlines changing times so it may help:
moneysavingexpert/travel/flight-changes Any customer that has this kind of experience is unlikely to book with them again so I hope you get it sorted. |

Well according to that by changing your flight to another flight number you are entitled to claim under EU regulation. Interesting that Virgin on chart shows 12 hour difference allowed when BA is 2 hours.

Thanks everyone for your feedback. I will not let it drop. After an almost immediate reply yesterday(once i chased the 14 days of waiting) I have not heard back again so wondering if my email went to their junk again. If not heard again tomorrow I will message on FB as they sorted the reply yesterday.

This page on moneysavingexpert suggests for a scheduled change you have the option of cancelling and rebooking.
moneysavingexpert/travel/flight-changes So surely a refund is allowed for the difference.
