Our 17 yo DD, who will turn 18 on the trip does not drink fizzy drinks. So she is looking forward to milkshakes and hot chocolates and possibly fruit juice based mocktails with the new dining plan credit rules too. Even though she is 18 on our first full day on holiday, she does not like any alcohol so even if she was in the UK for her 18th she wouldn't want alcohol.

Kat
Flights will not be included, it's "single serve" drinks only. This is from the US site...

Guests under 21 years of age can choose one non-alcoholic beverage (including specialty beverages where offered). Guests 21 and older can choose either one non-alcoholic beverage (including specialty beverages where offered) or one single-serving mixed cocktail, beer, or wine (where offered) within their meal entitlement.

A single-serving non-alcoholic beverage includes items such as:

Artisanal Milkshakes
Fresh Smoothies
Premium Hot Chocolate
Soda, Coffee or Tea

A single-serving alcoholic beverage includes items such as:

Beer or Cider
Wine or Sangria
Mixed Drinks and Specialty Cocktails

Most beer, wine and mixed drink beverages included, some exceptions apply. Guests 21 and older must present valid ID to be served alcoholic beverages. Alcoholic beverages may only be redeemed with a Quick-Service or Table-Service meal entitlement.

I wonder what ID will be required? Wouldn’t want to carry my passport around when the magic band does everything.

Driver's licence + copy of passport (pic on phone is fine) is the usual standard for ID at Disney.

I don't have a drivers licence so will I have to carry my passport around?

Thank you. I will do as you suggest. Not going to miss out on cocktails, been reading menus, there are some amazing ones. My plan is to pay OOP for DH’s $8 beer and use his allowance for 2 $13 cocktails - if it works!

The interesting question is if the adult can ask for the kids drinks to be beers etc, for them and just buy a soda out of pocket for the kids.
Shame you can't pool the drinks to use at the bar etc.
Dining plan if paying for it is poor value anyway in most cases, this just makes it more expensive. distripplanner

If you want an alcoholic drink, then yes, you would need to carry your actual passport.

A lot of over 21s don't drink alcohol (one of my friends doesn't, she doesn't like it) so shouldn't they be charged less too?
