Budget - Credit Card Hold

Hi

I have rented a car for our stay in October through Holiday Autos. The rental company is Budget.

I had a bad experience with Budget in Belfast and said I would never us them again but they seem to be the only company offering a 12 seater and the full rental price is only £552 - the next best is a 15 seater for way over £800.

I have paid for the vehicle in full but then they state i need to provide a valid credit card for the $200 security deposit and enough to cover the excess. It doesn't state anywhere how much that excess is so i was wondering if anyone knew.

I have tried looking on the website but can't seem to find the info.

I couldn't even find a 12 seater on Alamo - wouldn't mind paying a bit extra to go with Alamo as they are much easier to use

I have looked a again and can only find a 15 seater in the region of £950 with Alamo

having a nightmare with Budget at present, hired a car in New Orleans for 4 days, all pre paid, agreed to return with a full tank of petrol back at New Orleans, got my receipt showing 0 but the person never bothered to check the fuel even though I asked them too... a week after getting home, Budget put a £100 and £14 hold on my CC, emailed them to ask why, told it was a human error and the £100 dropped off, the £14 stayed, a week later, another £14 hold has appeared and then a charge of £14 on my CC, another email and they have charged me a fuel charge (save customers filling the car they said), again a complaint and the fuel charge is being credited back... not great customer service

It's hands up time for me, maybe I shouldn't have got up at 5.30am this morning!

I was looking at Auto Europe by mistake. Ha ha.

I see the Budget van for your dates is showing £607 and Alamo is £958

But back to the point

CDW (Collision Damage Waiver) and Vehicle Theft coverage with Zero Excess.

Having a quick look I cannot get near that Budget price sorry.

used budget thru andy dfch last trip and they were great

they couldn't put the hold on my prepaid CC with $4k on it - but did take my UK debit card!

Only hold that went on was £75 for fuel and it dropped off a couple of days after we returned the car.

The budget rental is a 12 seater for 2 weeks at £552

So no issues with budget? I've read some horror stories which panicked me a bit as our hire car is with them at xmas
