Las Vegas or Bust - Day 7

Saturday 19th March 2005

Our last full day and just a few more hotels to visit. We stop at the Nile Deli for breakfast again after we have started to pack. Rick likes their Breakfast Bagel – cooked to order, and I have a fruit platter and coffee. There are a lot more people about today as it’s the weekend and Las Vegas is a popular weekend holiday location for US citizens.

We take the free monorail to Mandalay Bay for a quick look around. This is a lovely hotel, with it’s own wave pool, just like Typhoon Lagoon and a Shark Reef. We take the free monorail back passed the Luxor and get off at the Excalibur. Then we walk back to the Aladdin and the Dessert Passage, we need our coats again today, as the wind has not dropped. Rick buys me a brooch from the Swarovski shop for my birthday; we get to see the Thunderstorm and then buy an ice cream from Auntie Annies.

Our next stop is the Mirage and The Secret Gardens of Siegfried & Roy and Dolphin Habitat. We spend an enjoyable couple of hours here and then continue on our journey. We have a quick look round the Fashion Show Mall – this is where I bought the water for $1.12. Lunch today is Pizza – another one off Rick’s list. Next, Circus Circus, which is a low budget hotel and definitely looks and feels like it. Good place for kids though.

We walk down to the Stratosphere and catch the CAT bus to Freemont Street, Downtown. Here we take the Miller Lite taste test; watch a street artist at work and buy one of his paintings; pop into the Golden Nugget and find the largest Golden Nugget in the world; play the nickel slots and win; try a frozen cocktail; get lots of lucky beads; and watch/experience three light and sound shows above the street.

The rain finally takes hold and we catch a cab back to the Luxor. We drop of our coats in the room and go back to the Casino to loose all we’ve won.

A late supper in the Food Court – yes not the Nile Deli.

We have another pack-up, leaving just a few items to pack up tomorrow.

I like the sound of the Mandalay Bay with its pools etc.

Off to check the website!

Siegfrieds and Roys Secret garden is lovely don't you think? The lions and tigers are beautiful, but it was lovely being close to the dolphins and watching them at play.
We stayed at Circus Circus and it was shabby and old, but the room was clean and the price was right!
Emily wants to stay at the Luxor if we ever go back there, did you like it there? Is it the Luxor that has the 2 talking camels?
Love Rio

That's the one. We had a pyramid room. But the tower rooms are bigger apparently. Heather
