POFQ or AKL with DDP

We did POFQ last year & upgraded the dining from QS to the full DDP - we loved it being so small & the boat to DS. I know that by the time we upgraded to the DDP for very little more we could do AKL with the full DDP included therefore not needing an upgrade.

Would you stick with POFQ or is it worth trying out somewhere else for a change? We love the animals but aware we may have to pay a fair bit more for a safari view, we were quite taken with the place having eaten in Boma last year but we're torn as to whether to stick with convenience & what we know or change? Help! Any opinions or experiences welcome!

We did exactly the same as you first trip, stayed at POFQ first time and upgraded to DDP. Really loved the hotel, boat etc. Second visit, we stayed at AKL... absolutely right choice, it’s a different level, wouldn’t even hesitate.

AKL is stunning. We’ve stayed there twice and really liked it.
Both times we were lucky and ended up with a partial savannah view standard room.

We found the buses good as well.

We are doing it the other way and have booked pofq and upgraded the ddp. We fancied trying somewhere different this time.

I’d go with AKL.

Definitely AKL. I really wouldn’t pay extra for the view though. There are so many quiet spots to sit and view the animals.

Stayed at both and like both but there’s no comparison really. AKL is in a different class of resort. Like a PP though I wouldn’t pay a 1k upxharge for a savannah view for 2 weeks. Not in the room enough for me and plenty of places to enjoy the animals.

Thank you everyone! Well that's answered that question Glad to hear the buses are good too as that was a worry - we loved using the boat to get to the springs it was so convenient.
Is there any particular area or building you would recommend staying in? We'd like to be fairly close walking wise to Jambo house - is there any areas so far away you need a bus for instance?
Sorry for all the questions!

If you are paying cash for a room rather than dvc you will be in Jambo House.

We requested a room on the Kudu trail (certain area of the hotel) and got a partial savannah view, no guarantee of this. Some people prefer to be closer to the bus stop. At most it’s like a 7 minute walk to the bus stop, pool or food court but it’s all the one building.

Kidani is the building with the dvc rooms, Sanaa is also over here and they have a good pool and splash area that you can also use. There’s a little mini bus that goes back and forth between the 2.

Fab thank you, that makes a lot more sense - how you were allocated to the certain areas was confusing me, I didn't know DVC was in a different area. I'll be paying cash so I can get the dining plan so we'll be in Jambo then.
