Weighted blankets

Our DGS moves around his bed and kicks his legs in the air so much that it is a wonder he gets any sleep. I wondered if having a weighted blanket would help him.

Is this the teenager? Maybe ask him what he thinks?

A weighted blanket isn’t going to pin him down. If he’s sleeping fine then does shuffling around matter?

I always thought weighted blankets for comfort for those who struggled to sleep for a variety of reasons. I’m sure my youngest would love one as she rolls into her duvet really tightly but she sleeps very well so I figured no need.

Ahh I see, well how do you know he thrashes about? Does he tell you he struggles to sleep?
I think they are an excellent source of comfort for those who feel anxious, struggle to sleep etc, but if he sleeps ok he might find it annoying

Can I ask if you use a weighted blanket on top on a duvet or instead of the duvet?

I’m thinking about one as I struggle to sleep

Thank you

I have no advice but I am looking at one of these for my son. He is only 8 but he really struggles to get to sleep, he is often still awake well past midnight. His sleep, when he does sleep, is very fitful with arms and legs flying everywhere and he often falls out of bed.
We have actually bought him a double bed for Christmas so we are hoping that will help 🤞🏻🤞🏻

I have a weighted blanket. I use it when I am feeling anxious and on edge when sitting on the sofa, but I can't sleep with it as I find it too heavy on my chest and feet for some reason. I know lots of people like to sleep with it though. It does feel very different so I guess not everyone will like it.

I don't think you put them on top of a duvet - it is supposed to be instead. I think it would probably slide off a duvet!

I dont think they are supposed to be used during the night for children, more to help them settle. My son has one as he has sensory needs and it helps to calm him before bed. Might be worth double checking. 👍

I think he might be an older teenager if I’m thinking about the same grandson
