Hope you have a good birthday and manage to get away.
We’ve just had this happen with BA. We where due to fly back from Amman on Thursday morning and the flight was cancelled about 5 hours before departure with the option of a later flight with Royal Jordanian or fly back Friday with BA, we choose the flight on Thursday. I called them yesterday to see about flight cancellation compensation, they did some checking and we have been refunded 600€ (£508) if you check on citizens advice it gives some information on how/when/who can claim. I know it doesn’t make up for the disappointment of the delay but definitely worth looking into. I just called them and they sorted on the phone really quickly, should have the money within 7 days.

If a qualifying reason under EU261 all passengers are entitled to €600 each for 24 hours delay.
In addition, under duty of care irrespective of reason for delay, where an overnight stay is required, the airline is obliged to cover/provide food & drink, accommodation & travel to/from the airport. |

Sorry to hear this, hope you still manage to enjoy your birthday and your holiday. We have booked a week in Mexico in October, so I can imagine how disappointed you must feel as it is a long flight for a week and you want to make the most of the time 😔 Hopefully you will be off nice and early tomorrow 😀
