Flying with medical supplies, can recommend Easyjet

Just thought I'd post my recent experience flying with a lot of medical stuff in case anyone is anxious about it

Bit of background-I am recovering from bowel cancer which left me with intestinal failure
This means I need my "food" intravenously each night through a PICC line in my arm

So for a two week trip I have to take 14 bags of fluid weighing 3kg each plus assorted saline flushes, syringes and sterile packs to administer the feed

Most airlines I contacted said they would transport medical equipment free of charge

We picked Easyjet for our Portugal holiday and this was my experience yesterday from Manchester to Faro

My feed was spread over 3 cases, over 60kg weight in total
Lloyds Pharmacy who supply my equipment sent me labels and letters to print detailing what was in the feed

I also had letters from my consultants at Salford Royal and Wigan stating why Parental Nutrition was essential

Check in was easy, normal suitcases via Easyjet desk then medical equipment at Baggage inspection who didn't even ask see letters just asked me to explain what was in the bags

The pumps and batteries had to go in my hand luggage and be shown to security

The three medical bags came off the plane first(relief!) and then our other two cases later with everyone else

twelve months ago whilst recovering, the thought of going abroad with so much kit was too daunting but I'd like to reassure anyone else in a similar situation that it is doable

So off to enjoy the sunshine

Well done Easy Jet, but more importantly well done on overcoming those obstacles to go on holiday, you put those of us who think it’s too much trouble because of testing to shame ❤️❤️❤️

Oh don't get me going on testing!
All this chopping and changing,we were in the way to our fit to fly test when my SIL said we don't need this now for Portugal but they still asked to see the result at passport control yesterday

Thanks for the encouragement
