Maybe that is why Newport bay is not available to book this morning in October and November,
Can anyone recommend an alternative for half term dates. Not bothered about which hotel just somewhere close to walk to parks village etc.

Any of the onsite hotels are walkable. Even Cheyenne and Santa Fe are only a 15 minute walk away.

I seem to recall this happening a couple of years ago too? Or was that the actual park staff ?

If you struggle to get availability for on-site they do have partner hotels like magic circus and that is a short free shuttle ride away (and much cheaper!)

If you can’t get onsite then I prefer the Val d’Europe hotels, just one stop on the RER and some of them are walkable. I don’t like being tied to shuttles.

L’Elysee is my fave, opposite Val d’Europe station and near the big shopping centre.

Happens a lot. It’s a fact of life in France. CMs have been on strike before now. As they have in the US parks too.

Only once have I seen character CMs on strike though, and that was nothing to do with money. Apparently a character CM had been dismissed for sexual harassment but had a good enough lawyer to get him reinstated. The other CMs refused to work with him and went on strike until he was removed.

We were there at the time, and had every sympathy for the poor CMs in City Hall, who were dealing with hordes of angry guests and weren’t able to tell them the reason for the problem.

We’re in NPC now and tbh yes there is an issue. We dropped our luggage and checked in at 8.30am yesterday, came back at 2030 and didn’t have a room until gone 9. In the Cheyenne where we have spent the previous 2 nights, we had our room at 3.45.

To be honest, we would probably pick the Cheyenne again over NPB. The beds here are really comfy, the hotel feels more modern and a bit more luxurious. But honestly when you actually settle in. It isn’t. The TV is much smaller, our phone has buttons missing, we were given the wrong paperwork twice with someone else’s name on it.

When we eventually got to our room, you could tell there was a housekeeping issue as the bath had hair all in it. My DH did go and speak to them and they offered to move our room, but they sent housekeeping to clean for us and gave us a gift card of more than the standard compensation, as well as a free breakfast. So we went for a drink in the bar and all was well.

Breakfast, wasn’t brilliant. I’m glad it was free otherwise we would have been really quite cross. They had no record of us being given breakfast, so had to sort that out (front staff, rude, management, lovely again. Same as the night before). The food was okay, warm rather than hot. We weren’t given butter/jam/Nutella with the pastries as it said, and that’s fine I don’t eat them with stuff, however we needed it for the toast so had to ask a couple of times. Unfortunately DH then found a dead bug in his meal and I found a hair in mine.

We’ve checked out this morning and tried to drop our luggage off but it’s chaos. The protest is right outside the main entrance, there are people everywhere, so we’ve just brought our bags out with us.

We’ve had a brilliant time, but we preferred the Cheyenne in all honesty.

Just to re-assure everyone. Yes striking picket still outside the hotel but well supervised with security. Checked in at 12.30pm today, room ready and as completely clean and stocked as you would expect. Zero wait to check in

Edited at 01:43 PM.
