Stink08,

I am assuming that you are feeding 11 adults. I have never done that but have done 7 adults and two children as well as drop in guests. Unless you are buying premade food or eating all restaurant meals, you should have more than enough. If you are really stressing, purchase a COSTCO membership and do a trip to stock up.

I am alone and for my meals, I spend about $50./week (I belong to a seafood coop and don't eat prepared foods). Two of my adult children drop in and that may double my food budget as I will pick up a pound of salmon for the three of us and extra veggies for when they are here. Even when I had three growing kids at home, I usually spent under $150.00 a week and we always ate well with fresh foods and high quality foods. My kids would not eat meats from the grocery store they had to have it from the local butcher.

If you are cost conscious, you have double the amount you need but just don't fall victim to buying expensive junk. Yes, American supermarkets have a lot of it, it may look delicious but it is overpriced and low in nourishment. Shop the outside of the store (veggies, meats and fish, dairy and you will save a lot.

Also try to buy fruit in season and local as much as possible. Again, for your size group, go to Costco. BUt do the same thing at Costco-leave the junk in the store.
If you have $1300 for a week, you will be more than fine. (and if you have any junk food addicts, leave them home when you shop)

thank you, that's all good to know its 10 adults and 1 child , and will be staying away from the junk, which is why i think I'm a bit worried, just really want loads of fruit, veg, meat and waters, plus a few large pizzas and pasta dishes, the kids have been told if they want junk food it will come out of their own money, and we can use left over shopping money for some meals out!

Another suggestion is to go online and order from Walmart they are supposed to be doing an 10% off offer for your first online order.
