Married by Mail question

Hi all,

Wondering if you can help. We are getting married in Orlando in May, and have been recommended Married by Mail by our officiant to obtain the wedding licence without needing to travel to the local court house on day 1 of our holiday.

Bit confused with the application process. Do you need to have your signatures etc notarised on the application for a marriage licence here in the UK before sending it back to them? Or is this something they provide? From looking at notary costs in the UK that could bump up the price of this wedding licence by a few hundred pounds?!?

What have those who have married in Florida using this service or not done before?

Thanks for help in advance!

We got married in Orlando quite a few years ago.

We got our licence there by going to the courthouse.

Simple quick process. Probably 30 mins max.

It certainly never cost us hundreds of pounds.

Have you checked on the official Orlando courthouse website for their fees.

Are you using a third party?

It's pretty reasonable to be honest - only something like $94. I was willing to pay the premium to get it all sorted out before we went, but having the thought of having to pay to get signatures notarised here in the UK as well has pushed it beyond an acceptable premium.

Contacted MBM for advice weeks ago but can't seem to get a reply from them...disappointing!

We got our from the courthouse in 2014 it wasn’t that much of a pain tbh. I’d recommend getting there early though we got the 30 mins before it opened and when we left had about 30 people behind us.

We got ours by post, yes you need a notary here in the UK, ours charged £90 I think then just send it back and they do the rest, was worth it for us as we was getting married 2nd day there.
