Gulf coast status
We're flying out a week on Sunday and had planned to go to Sarasota, St Pete or Clearwater for a few days the following week - so 1st to 4th Oct, and had originally intended to look for somewhere while in a villa in Orlando during our first week.
Does anyone have an inkling as to whether that should still work or should we keep out of the way and extend our stay in Orlando? I'm quite laid back about it - but DW is starting to panic! Edited at 04:02 PM. |

I can only tell you about Anna Maria island (in between Sarasota and St Pete)
Very little damage or flooding. The power is still off but expected back soon. So would imagine you will be fine by then. |

We fly Friday and were heading over to AMI ... all good on Holmes beach more still without power at Top end .
Before we get there were having a week in Savannah , Charleston and St Augustine and there all up and running to . Hard to believe when 2" snow brings our city to a halt for days

Sarasota is fine too. My dad lives there and he didn't even lose power. Although, he did lose wifi which he was most upset about lol!

I'm in the same boat.
We can't decide: I have reserved a room in Clearwater and Orlando but as yet no flight as as we are debating whether or not to cruise instead, happens that the cruise we picked takes in St Marteen and the BVI and I cant find any info on the cruise itinerary or Clearwater. I also don't feel happy debating a holiday when those poor islanders have nothing.

Thanks for those responses. Sounds like we should be OK.
It's a fairly last-minute trip anyway and we held off booking a villa for the first week but most of our short-list has availability into the following week. Hopefully if push-comes-to-shove the owners would be happy for us to rent the extra few days. |

We've spoken to our villa owners and they tell us there is no damage where they are. They didn't loose power at all either. Although some places did close by and still do not have power in the area.

Sarasota and siesta is fine. Some areas lost power due to lines down but it will be all back by the time you are out there

Getting Excited
|
Hi,
We were in Sarasota and Siesta Key yesterday and can report all appeared to be good. Fuel is our major concern down here in Cape Coral it's starting to come back on line today but they had plenty in Sarasota yesterday. |
