Mobile tampa hotel recommendations

hi everyone, we fly into tampa on 17th july and are spending until the 20th in tampa before driving to the villa in orlando, i had booked a hotel for the three nights (la quinta wyndeham) opposite busch gardens for the three nights but have since seen some awful reviews can anyone recommend a reasonably priced hotel for the three nights, we have a car so a little bit of travelling wont be a problem. tia

If it was me I would drive and stay in Clearwater, It really is not far, almost a straight road over the causeway and great for relaxing.

I have always stayed at the Hilton Clearwater, but am lucky enough to pay for it using Hilton points rather than money!

I have read reports about people recommending Pier 69, Opal Sands, The Sandpearl, but to be honest i would stay anywhere within walking distance of the beach.

We stayed in Homewood suites near the airport. Mainly because as a family of 5 they had 2 bedroom suites, free breakfast, and free evening reception with wine and beer! Lovely pub/restaurant within walking distance called World of Beer (we went twice), and round the block was International Plaza Mall with all the usual stores plus Cheesecake Factory.
