BA Trumping Virgin in the Refund Stakes

I can't help reflecting a number of posters used to denigrate BA at the expense of Virgin on this and other forums.

Have there views now changed as BA seem to be acting a lot more honourably with regard to refunds and transferring flights in the current crisis.

Has the Virgin Bubble well and truly burst revealing that when it comes to the crunch they were all about style over substance ?

Virgin / Air France / KLM - anyone part of that codeshare posse - are all part of the refund nightmare. Will never use any of them again...

That’s why using a CC is a must and s.75 is your ultimate fall back.

Well I for one will still use VA when I decide to fly to the US again as it looks like our 2 flights with them in June and August will not go ahead.

We always look at price and for flying to the US - west coast or east coast - they are always the best price wise.

Actually we have flown with them for many many years with no problems so why change!

If everything else was comparably eg price, flight times, airport etc then I would fly Virgin as my first choice but for the last few trips Virgins prces have been several hundreds of £ higher then TC or BA and I can't see how that can be justified as the flights I took with TC and BA have been absolutely fine.

Can anyone remember the fiasco over room bookings with Virgin Holidays a couple of years ago ? Since that I have been even more wary of booking with VH - that was a terrible situation for many people.

Then when they go out of business i guess most people will be happy? then say BA having a monopoly? people where worried what would happen to price when TC went. Now we might lose VAH? long shot i know but you get my meaning.

I have no doubts that BA will take full advantage of a monopoly situation, I just hope it doesn't come to that.

i will still continue to use VA, their service onboard and the customer service i have had on my two recent bookings have been outstanding. .

ive seen people bitch and moan on here because they are struggling contact anybody to cancel their holiday due at the end of the year or even 2021

From what i can see, virgin pretty much said immediately it will only speak to customers travelling within the next 72hours which is fair enough. And they said from the start that refunds can take up to 90 days i think it was? a bit of a bummer but nonetheless you'll get your money back. However other airlines stated 14 days and then extended it. VS havent handled this perfectly but at least you know where you stood from the start.

The biggest issue from what i can see is the customer base not understanding a very simple set of guide lines and continued to bombard the poor people working in the Virgin call centre.

it is them who have caused the back log.
