We paid about £16 each for the Shard including a glass of champagne- that was an online offer through Time Out. Was worth every penny

We did London for husbands 50th. I booked something for each decade... a lovely hotel, an open topped bus tour, a fabulous west end show, an amazing dinner, afternoon tea at a cafe (can’t recall where &#128580

I agree the Shard is expensive for what it is but on a clear day the views are amazing but it gets ridiculously busy up there especially on a weekend.
Tower 42 is another option. It's been quite a few years since I've been up there but there is a Champagne bar on the 42nd level called Vertigo 42, lovely views from the other side of the river to the Shard. It's in the city not far from London Bridge
Ahh ! I used to work in Tower 42 when it was the Nat West Tower. They were good times !

For my 50th we had tea at the Ritz then a ride on the London Eye. Then walked across Westminster Bridge to the H of P and Westminster Abbey, a magical area of London.

What about an open-top bus tour to see the main sights ? I don’t know if they do “hop on hop off” buses ?

Even better do the BB bus tour. Old route master bus with afternoon tea. We've done it twice. This whole family will love it and it takes in the sights of London.

Our most favourite restaurant at the moment is Dishoom - especially the one at Kings cross - the others are lovely but this one is fantastic! ITs modern indian cuisine and its set up like a bombay railway station!

For hotels we like the Premier inns but has just found a fab deal on Red Letter Days for H10 at Waterloo.
With a discount code we paid £145 - drinks on arrival and breakfast but to book direct it was £250!
they are still doing the offer - its £169 without the discount code.

The reviews are amazing!

I was going to suggest a treasure trail too - not done one in London, but had done my town and Bath and they’re a great way to see some of the details you would otherwise miss - a bargain too at about £7.

KatieC68-just looked at H10 and looks lovely. Based on November it’s around £170 for a double room for the night with breakfast. How does the red letter day thing work? Wondering if it will be even cheaper through that? x
