Well I've booked for March ages ago in and out of LAX and mini van with insurance for 19 nights £536 each would have been cheaper but I paid extra for the late flight home . . This year was a similar price and last year around £430 each just for the flight .
Even in summer months LA flights can be cheap you often see them for around £500 direct . I've never flown with them but Air New Zealand have frequent sales and good flight prices for LA. |

Traffic is very busy in LA but because it's so slow moving its not scary just takes ages to get anywhere .
Took us 90 mins last year from Anaheim to Hollywood and it's only 35 miles this year we split our stay to avoid sitting in traffic so much . Guess it depends on how confident a driver you are though , my DH is a hgv driver so nothing on the roads bothers him as he's use to driving through busy cities etc . |

Thanks for your advice Daytonababe it's really helpful.
The only thing holding me back is cost of accommodation now. Done a quick search and coming in at over £1000 for a week around LA and around £1300 for San Fran. Even looked on Airbnb. We are a family of 5 so always difficult looking for decent price accommodation.

Has anyone done this and not used the car hire as we don't really want a car?

I've booked packages only for flights before and not used hotels, so this shouldn't be any different. I certainly wouldn't be using it, if a deal like this come around again-assuming I keep my hands by my side with this one

I've found this too I was thinking of Orlando for August as a possibility. A package going from Manchester, which would be no real hardship, was coming out at under 2k for the Clarion and a bit over for Cabana bay. This is for 3 adults and a child. Me and my youngest can go for 1.4k. Madness
