How many of you going?

I stayed in a BnB inbetween Williams and GC. One one morning we had a full breakfast and on the second day the landlady made us a packed breakfast to take with us to eat as we watched the sunrise.

Only room for two though. If you're interested let me know and i'll pass details

A good picnic place along the rim (in fact just a great place generally) is Shoshone point. This isn't really advertised much and there are no signs for the parking etc. Consequently few people visit but it's one of the best views of the canyon. It is about a 20 minute walk each way but worth it. We had the whole place to ourselves.

Wow that looks great! Thank you. That's definitely on my list!

Like Tinkerbell, we stayed in Kachina Lodge - we just left yesterday! We had breakfast at Bright Angel Lodge after watching the sunrise and it was really lovely and actually cheaper than some of the places we had eaten in earlier in our trip! We really only snacked apart from that though.

I would thoroughly recommend taking the red bus route towards Hermit's Rest if you get the opportunity. DH and I walked several miles of the rim trail, then got on and off the bus for photos, before getting sandwiches at Hermit's Rest and the bus back to the village.

There is so much to see and it is so beautiful.

Thanks again everyone! The Bright Angel sounds like a great place to eat, I have added it to my list!

I have done quite a lot of planning this weekend, I'm finding that lots of places are already booked up for our dates so I'm hoping by the end of this week, to pretty much have all our hotels reserved. I'm looking at an Airbnb for our San Diego stop so need to have another look at that.
