August 2018/2019 - first stages of planning
Just back from 2 weeks in Orlando where we didn't step foot outside "the World" and having withdrawal symptoms. But thinking of doing something different for our next trip and combining our two favourite types of holiday - Disney and a road trip.
We've done a 2 week West Coast road trip before the kids (san fran, PCH1, Sequoia NP, Yosemite) and loved it. Does anyone have any suggestions for a similar type trip which would involve Disneyland? How many days should we allocate for Disneyland and for LA? Where else would be a must see? And does anyone have any tips for getting cheap flights for 2adults and 2 kids? |

When we went to Disneyland in 2013 we spent a week there and we are doing the same when we go in October.
If you are doing LA and Anaheim then I would advise that you stay in Anaheim and then move up to LA as traffic is a nightmare and you wouldn't want to take a day trip. San Diego is beautiful and has Aquatica, Legoland, Zoo, Safari and Seaworld. It is around a 2 hour drive south of Anaheim. LA - we did this in July for a week. That gave us plenty of time to do Santa Monica a couple of times, Walk of Fame, HOHO buses (all routes except the purple), Universal and Warner Bros Studios, and a tour of Stars Homes etc in the hills. We only booked our trip (5 nights in New York, 5 nights in San Fran, 4 nights in Santa Barbara, 6 nights in LA and then 10 in Las Vegas) in March this year and got some really good deals. When we got back at beginning of August we started looking for October and have managed to get a really good deal for then through British Airways site and at the moment we are in the process of booking our Xmas break to Orlando and a cruise. Sometimes leaving things until closer to the time gives better deals. |
