Staying at villa & Disney

We have always done Disney when staying onsite, with the odd afternoon/evening thrown in when we're offsite. We never do full days as it's too hot and we all get grumpy, so tend to do half days, either early mornings or afternoon/evenings.

When we go next year, we will be onsite at Universal for 4 days, and then moving to a villa just off the 27. We will only have base tickets, so will be doing one park per day, do many people do half a day and then drive back to the villa for some R&R, and go back in the evening? I worry that we will get back to the villa after an early start and just flop without going back out and waste half a days tickets. Do you see it as a pain in the backside? Or, if you don't go back to the villa, what do people do for a few hours chill in the afternoon without going back to the villa?

It’s great going back to a villa, bit of pool time, read a book, have a film. Then shower and back out. We find it best to have a plan, otherwise time vanishes.

We don't tend to do it that way, we go either end of the day .(before covid restrictions anyhow)

So at the start of our trips when everyone is up early naturally, we goto the park for opening, do the rides we want, eat lunch, do a show or 2, have ice cream and leave. Go to villa swim, chill, eat out then relax...

Towards the end we go shopping or mini golf in the morning, back to villa, swim, light lunch, then out to park late afternoon and stay til closing for any parades/fireworks etc.

We tried going in/back/in, but just got tired of travelling and didn't do it for long. But I know lots do.

Yes this is exactly what we do too. Works great for us.

We do this a couple of times each week. Usually leave park about 1 or 2pm, head back to the villa for a dip in the pool and early tea before heading back about 6 or 7pm. Works really well for us.

We used to stay in parks all day, but last time our villa was pretty close, so we had a few days where we left at lunchtime for a few hours then went back. It was so hot when we went, we needed the break

It really depends how far your villa is, “close to Disney” is a *really* fluid term !

Thanks everyone! We have never going back to a park whilst staying in a villa, I know what we're like! Would get back, get in the pool, have a snooze and then think oh lets just go for dinner and not bother! Even when we're onsite we tend to only do half days. But We will be staying in Legacy Park, so about 20 mins to Animal Kingdom and 30 mins to Universal, we generally only stay in the parks (Disney) till around 1pm if an early start and tend to head out at 4 if we're doing an evening. If we're only getting a few days base tickets then I would rather we make use of them, I just knowwe will need a break in the middle of the day but dont want to waste loads of time going back and forth!

We only did it for Magic Kingdom where we were there early, and were staying for the fireworks, would have been about a 13-hour day otherwise. Our villa was in Sunset Lakes so we were only about 15 minutes drive away, but you have to factor in the boat/monorail time too

We do so much more park time when we stay on site. When we went last in August/September 2019 we did a mixture and when we stayed in the villa would go out early with good intentions of coming back for a chill then going back to the parks in the evening. But once we were sat by the pool quite often couldn’t be bothered.
