Scotland Driving Holiday (not NC500)

We've pretty much decided we're going to go on a driving holiday round Scotland the last week in August. Just looking for any advice really.

Places we want to see are Loch Lomond, Oban, Isle of Sky, Isle of Sky and Fort William. They are definites, open to any other suggestions round there.

Anyone been to these places and can suggest places to stay, specific areas to visit etc?

Edited to add, we're both coeliac and I'm also vegetarian which is why I've not specifically mentioned places to eat, but if anyone is aware of anywhere that is great for GF please let me know!

Edited at 11:38 AM.

We have done a few but a few years ago we did a lovely one,

Home-Dumfries-Edinburgh-Stonehaven (Dunnotter Castle)-Aviemore (over the cairngorms)-Drumnadrochit (Urquhart Castle)-Fort Augustus (Beastie Boat speed boat on Loch Ness)-Fort William (Jacobite train to Mallaig)- Luss on Loch Lomond-Home.

It was a fabulous trip and very enjoyable

If you go to Fort William up the west coast, you could go home from Fort William via Inverness then Aviemore and down past Pitlochry and Dunkeld. It’s beautiful. Or from Inverness you could go over to Elgin and down the Malt Whiskey trail and Speyside. Also gorgeous. Going over to Inverness would take you along Loch Ness.
If you didn’t want to go over that way, come home through Glencoe.
The drive from Oban to Fort William along the coast is stunning.
Whatever you decide I’m sure you will enjoy.

It's a beautiful castle and Stonehaven is lovely although the mist rolled in whilst we were there and it actually became quite eerie

We have just had a week in Aviemore, stayed in a log cabin on Speyside holiday Park.
We have been going there for many many years and it’s lovely, 5 min walk into village with shops, pubs restaurants etc , well worth a visit!

We've just been planning our route, and think we're going to spend a night here on the way back.

We don't have enough time to do everything unfortunately, but this will definitely give us a flavour!

Thanks for everyone's ideas

We've done a couple of Scottish road trips (Sept 2020 & June 2021) due to cancelled Florida holidays.

Last year, one of our stays was at the Holly Tree hotel in Kentallen; halfway between Oban and Fort William.
It's on the edge of Loch Linnhe and every room overlooks the loch; spectacular to sit with your balcony doors open with a view of the loch right there and hearing water lapping against the shoreline.

On the drive between Kentallen and Oban we passed Castle Stalker; what a view of the castle surrounded by water; again stunning.

Near Fort William and on the way to Inverness/Loch Ness is Spean Bridge where the Commando memorial is located; definitely worth a visit; very moving and thought provoking.
