I don't believe he would announce any further restrictions. So that leaves two options...an opening date or a stay as we are.
The stay as we are option is politically tricky as the current policy makes little sense now and there is huge pressure to open up, and crucially he has said there will be update. Now for the caveats: this is my view, it is speculation and I don't have any links to verify anything since there is nothing to verify.

The US CDC has just moved UK to Level 4 Alert. Feels unlikely re-opening will be coming any time soon. Gutted.

I want to just know I am not excited or planning like I normally am , to be honest I wish they had just stopped all travel to next year I know I’m sorry but I really feel for people who one minute can go and then while there there it all changes it’s all just to chaotic, holidays are meant to be fun away off relaxing I don’t find any of this fun or relaxing just stressful 😢
