a long hospital wait !

my son got inured on duty yesterday cutting his hand quite badly- he went to the local hospital near his station and was told he would need a specialist hospital as it was too intricate for them to deal with and they were not sure if there was nerve/tendon damage. The specialist hospital refused to take him yesterday as too busy , he was sent home with padding all around to try and stem the blood. He has gone to the specialist hospital this morning - got there at 7.30 and still waiting to be seen nearly five hours later. He has been told not to eat or drink incase an op is needed and has been told he may be there for up to 15 hours if its just stitches he needs!

That's awful.

Both of our most local A&Es have put out messages via social media this morning saying that they're incredibly busy, looks like it's all over!

Sorry to hear about your son OP. I hope it's not too badly damaged and he is seen soon.

I’m sorry to hear that.
I hope the damage isn’t too extensive and he gets seen soon!
He must be starving!

thank you all - he is finally in a room to be seen and can hear other people being sent home due to no beds. He said the plastic surgeon came in to introduce himself then promptly said he had forgotten something and left - that was 25 minutes ago. I do just wish when they build new hospitals along side so many new houses though I doubt they would get the staff to fill them.

Hope he’ll be ok, sounds nasty 😩
Our elderly relative waited over 9 hours last week for a paramedic, she’s diabetic and she had a serious burn that was infected

Fingers crossed for your son

DD works for NHS greater Glasgow and got an email yesterday. They’re begging for staff to work this weekend as so busy with so many patients.
