Dumb question about what coffee to ask for!

I'm so sorry for this basic dumb question, but my stomach is no fan of milky cappuccinos or Latte's etc which I've only just realised! Just a good old fashioned coffee with a dash of milk or cream will do me nicely thankyou. I've never known what to ask for, so struggled on with the more milky coffees.

As a mainly tea drinker, I'm baffled by the types of coffee there are But I must admit to needing a coffee fix in the morning to get a hectic Orlando day off to a good start, but don't want to embarrass myself

Thanks.

Just ask for a coffee. They mainly serve it black and you can add creamer to it yourself.
I have found that most creamers are dairy free, however the coffee in the states (Denny's Ihop, Joffreys) all seem to be a lot sweeter than the stuff you would get here if you ordered a filter coffee, so i rarely add any creamer.

I just ask for coffee with room, that leaves a little at the top to put milk or cream in.

I ask for an americano with a dash of milk in Costa, they then usually ask if I want filter coffee or espresso with hot water.

I refuse to buy these expensive concoctions that coffee shops etc sell.
I like coffee to taste of coffee and nothing else! Plus I want it hot.

In America I have only ever asked for coffee for the last 43 years as I will only drink it black. Never have I been given anything other than black coffee and that suits me fine.

For those who want milk or creamer it will be on the counter or table.

As an aside I find Americans serve much nicer tasting coffee than we tend to get here. Maybe more Costa Rican and S. American maybe?

If you just want a ‘regular’ filter coffee just ask for a white Americano.

I’ve never thought about it and always ask for coffee at breakfast. There’s always room for milk/creamer and always one or other on the table. If I want a latte I’ll ask for a latte but generally don’t bother as plain old coffee is fine.

In my experience the coffee served in Florida is generally awful and I would always recommend going to a branded coffee house for a decent coffee.

Go to Dunkin Donuts, get coffee, thank me later

(you should really try a Dunkaccino, even if it's luscious milkiness will make you ill - its worth it!)

Ha ha. This is where we all differ, and rightly so. Are you saying all coffee is awful apart from Starbucks etc etc?

As an aside I detest Starbucks etc. Best coffee is from Denny's!
