From what I understand the virtual queue for this isn’t like fast pass or Jimmy fallon, in that it when it’s your turn to ride you will then need to join a fairly long physical queue, rather than getting straight onto the ride, ie still expect a decent length queue once you virtual queue tickets says it’s time to join the actual queue. This is just to stop really long queues like today.

I assume only reason not activated today is so they get the media coverage due to the length of the lines

There was no virtual queue yesterday. Some people did stand in an actual line for at least 13 hours.
