Hi don’t rule Yosemite out , it’s just you need to bear it in mind. Have a look at a map at the two routes from Vegas to Yosemite. If the weather was not as good then it just means a longer drive between the two places. Yosemite is fantastic.if there was snow it just means You could not get in from the tioga pass side as it is 10.000 ft, the valley floor is 4000 so would be ok.

No we’ve only ever been out to the West Coast once and it was literally a week in Anaheim with a day trip to Hollywood and Santa Monica, it was when Thomas cook started flying from Manchester so it was a a super cheap week.

Otherwise we’ve done Florida loads and New York a few times but fancied doing a driving trip and seeing some sights and giving the kids some new experiences along the way.

Truth be told I was 100% ready to book for Disneyworld again next year once free dining came out but all the changes and uncertainty has soured me but I want something to look forward to and plan.

I’ve no idea where to start or what to budget but it seems like a fun challenge!

We were advised to start in San Francisco as when you drive down the PCH you'll be on the 'sea side' rather than having to look through the traffic coming the other way.

We did
- San Fran (Alcatraz, Zoo, GG Bridge)
- Monterey (Whale watching, Kayaking with sea otters/sea lions, Monterey Bay Aquarium)
- then drove down the PCH to Santa Barbara for a stop-off
- out to Vegas for 3 nights
- back to LA area (Six Flags Magic Mountain)
- then stayed the night on the Queen Mary in Long Beach
- then drove down to San Diego (zoo, safari park, Seaworld etc)
- flew home from LA

Just got to hope there’s some decent options for flights into San Fran and out of LAX next summer as it’s looks like we’d want to do it that way too
