Taking food through security

I took a apple off my virgin flight and put it in my bag without thinking... BIG mistake lol...

Delayed us by an hour as we had to go through enhanced security all thanks to the apple and us declaring it when asked when having our passports checked :P

"Have you got any food you haven't declared" - "No - oh hang on... "

Even my five year old thought I was an idiot

Those cute little beagles with "Do not pet" jackets on are trained to sniff out more than drugs. They can detect an apple core 50 yards away.

You can take any food you want on to the plane but certain foods you're not allowed to take into the USA. For safety I dump everything I haven't eaten before disembarking.
At MCO last week the food choices were poor and expensive. Get food before you go to the airport. There are no restrictions coming home

I list the food I have eg teabags, biscuits, porridge etc on a ‘post it’ note and keep that with my passport. I always tick Yes to food on the Customs form and also stick my ‘post it’ note to it.
More often than not the Customs officer checks my list and changes the Yes to No and we go through with no problems.
