Pick A Pearl

We stay at BC - there's no fanfare or fun picking one there, and the pearl stand in Japan in Epcot is more of an 'occasion', really fun.
I fell lucky with my pearl holder - I found a brand new (still in packaging) Cinderella's Carriage and chain, in a charity shop for £2.50!

They would do another one for you, but it's pretty much guaranteed that you'll find one first time.

Can anyone tell me the best place to do pick a pearl outside of disney? I did my last one (quite a few year ago now) in what was then downtown disney

Do you mean, not in a park? There's still one at Disney Springs, and one at the Yacht and Beach Club.

I did it last month at the one at Beach/Yacht Club. I'd decided in advance I was going to do it and have it put in a ring setting. I got a champagne tinted pearl and opted for a simple gold ring setting. This was the result - it really is beautiful, the photo doesn't do it justice.

I like the look of the pearls but I don’t know how it works with they oysters - are they alive up until the opening and does that kill them?

Funnily enough this didn’t occur to me until we got to the Japan pavilion this summer and my dd11 then asked are they alive and they’re killing them? I should have thought of this as she loves all creatures and won’t hurt anything! However I asked the lady and she said they were all already dead, but unfortunately my DD then wouldn’t do it, so I did it in her place. My pearl and my DS’s pearl we’re both tiny though!

I do think they have stopped the diving for them part. I have walked past a few times and not seen them doing it. They might still have them in the shop but it wouldn't be anything like it used to be.

We did it SeaWorld a few years ago for my dd then 5. Was a wonderful experience, there was a huge marine tank,a diver swam down, with us watching through the glass wall, my dd then pointed to the oyster she wanted at the bottom. He returned to the surface to greet us. We had a blue pearl,had it mounted there in a beautiful silver oyster shell. Like I said it was a few years ago and haven't returned to SeaWorld since.
