Shanghai Disney compared to others

Hi Guys,

I have been to Orlando Disney few times and will be going Shanghai soon. How does the Disney park compare to Orlando? I have limited time in China hence wanted to check if its worth visiting?

Thanks

It is the most wonderful place - please do visit!
We were there 3 weeks ago and I would return in a heartbeat.
All of the nightmare stories about queueing, illegal selling, peeing - I didn't see any of them come to fruition.
The Cast Members despite their limited English were charming, the unique attractions are fabulous (Pirates and Tron are worth the trip alone, and Voyage to the Crystal Grotto is lovely too, plus the modernised Buzz is so much better), some great snacks and food.
I guess it's difficult to draw comparsion to Orlando as it's one park vs four, but it really does show that technology has come a long way in the last 40 years!
I would recommend it any day (and don't shoot me, but we far preferred it to Tokyo)

I've been to Shanghai DL once, staying at the Shanghai DLH club level. I also speak fairly decent Mandarin Chinese so almost zero language barrier.

I have mixed feelings about the park itself.

Rides:
On the one hand, some of the rides were technologically advanced and were great rides - Tron and Pirates being the two notable ones. Other rides were similar but just oh-so-slightly enhanced, like Peter Pan. Other rides were pretty much clones like Winnie the Pooh, 7DMT, and Soarin (albeit with a different pre-show).

Character interaction:
More of a "take a photo and go away" kind of feeling for the most part. We did the character dining inside the castle on that trip, and it was literally a case of Mickey Minnie etc coming out, taking one photo with each table, and then never coming back again. Aurora (I think - whoever was hosting that character dining meal) didn't even bother talking to us. This is as opposed to character meals I've done elsewhere, most recently at DL GCH, where the characters will not just take photos but will come around and interact/play.

Other guests:
Mixed. Some polite guests, but unfortunately it's always the queue-jumping and rude ones who will stick out in your mind. The illegal sellers were incredibly weird I found.

CMs:
Again mixed. Some great CMs, but also some incredibly brusque/rude ones.

We highly enjoyed the DLH and staying club level - the club lounge had great food and the CMs there were invariably fantastic. The room itself wasn't quite that great though - we definitely preferred the renovated DL GCH room we stayed in last year to the Shanghai DLH room. I think I personally might actually prefer the renovated WDW Value rooms to the Shanghai DLH room...

I think overall, I'm glad I went as it's a nice park and it was fun to ride some of the rides like Tron and Pirates. However it's probably going to be a while before I go back...

Can I ask what people mean by illegal sellers? Is it like the guys outside Disneyland Paris who sell cheap souvenirs?

Colleague went here last summer. She said there are hawkers outside but also inside. Ticket scalpers selling tickets in the queues outside too.
