We have recently had composite decking and very happy with it so far.
It's a difficult choice what to go for. We ordered the decking ourselves then the contractor laid it. Worked out cheaper than the price they had. Edited at 06:55 PM. |

The ones in my photo in post #4 are Indian Sandstone which we bought from a local builder's merchant Nicholls. They had about half a dozen colour ranges. I can't recall how much we paid per m2 though because we bought all the materials including bricks, cement, sand, hardcore etc.
We got a good price because the builder had an account there and I'd much rather buy the materials myself than pay a contractor an upfront payment. We also looked in Travis Perkins and Jewsons. Mick

I have cut sandstone slabs, 3 different sizes, plus bullnose ones for the step down.
This is what I paid for 50sqm Edit. This was before the lights were fitted and the railings installed. Nearly finished 2 years ago.

Taking the total including VAT at £1,314 divided by 50 m2 = £26.28/m2.
The bullnose will add a bit to the area and bring the cost per m2 down a bit but only pennies. Mick

Haggle! I got the price down quite a bit. I couldn't get the delivery taken off though as they use another contractor for that albeit how he makes money for £20 I don't know.

Excited about Disney

We had our patio redone at the end of July. It involved excavating the garden as it was sloped and building a stone retaining wall. We chose Indian sandstone sawn and honed in Raj green for the patio. We added cobbles on 2 pathways as a feature. Really happy with the result. We were advised not to seal the stone and when it rains the colour becomes richer and more prominent. I can’t say how much they cost per sq mtr. as the labour costs were included.

Just a quick update to record the job which took place last month.
Before: All kinds of rubble and even a wrought iron garden gate came out! 7.5 tonne of hardcore went in: Work in progress: End result! It doesn’t look much but we are looking forward to planting some colourful pots and will be buying some nice furniture to sit out on 😀 |
