Kids can be so mean

I am hoping they grow out of it and I know that they all go through it as part of growing up but having your 8 year old come home in tears saying she just wants to play with all her friends is heartbreaking .
They are all usually very friendly but a couple are a bit more determined than the others.Since they returned to school this year they have been particularly mean . Leaving her out of play time saying they want "private playtime" and then today even told her that she couldnt play with them after lunch as they were making a surprise for her . Then left her on her own for the rest of the lunch time play , My daughter has even said this was a trick so they didnt have to play with her . I feel so sad for her .
I have always taught my daughter to be friends with everyone and to just be kind and I believe she always does her best , it is often mentioned on her reports what a very kind and thoughtful child she is always thinking of others .
Just dont understand why they have to be so awful . I forget how difficult growing up can be at times but she loves school and play is so important I would hate for it affect her enjoyment during the time she is at school .
I am friends with all the mums but my daughter doesnt want me to say anything in case the children get mad at her

You can’t really get involved hopefully it won’t last long. At least with my son the dynamic in playground changed weekly in primary.

May just be me, but girls seem to be a lot worse than boys when it comes to things like this, always seems to be groups of girls targeting one individual whenever I read these stories?

I could have written your post myself, my 8 year old is exactly the same. Sadly she is quite sensitive and really takes it to heart, though luckily they are all usually friends again the next day like nothing happened. It is really horrible to think of our kids being upset and left out at school 😔

We had it, girls are worse than boys I think. My dd now 17 has a lovely group of friends now. She’s still kind and I always told her if someone is left out play with them when she was younger. It will pass once they grow up a bit, maybe speak to the teacher and make sure your daughter has someone to play with out of the group of Nasty girls.

Oh dear, that's so hard! I really feel for your dd, is there No one else in her class she can play with.
I don't think you should speak to the parents as then the girls will be playing with her because they've been told to, not because they want to!
It might be worth mentioning to the teacher though as not wanting to play with her and being deliberately mean are 2 different things!

Speak to her school.

Not necessarily to have her play with those girls, but to ensure she has someone else to play with. Might be the beginning of newer, nicer friendships.

Oh I’m having big issues with this and mine is 5! It’s awful to see her in tears at drop off and know she’s crying in the day too. Girls can be really mean.

My Granddaughter has this issue as well. Seems to be worse with the girls than the boys.
