I understand people were told to break out the water and cool packs stored under the seats.

Given the number of cable car systems in the world, and the likely millions of hours per use each year of them combined, I’d say it is pretty rare that they break down in such away that people need rescuing off them

There is a comment from someone involved on a wdwnews page stating that it was more of a crush than crash as one gondola got stuck after a system failure and on reset the other 4 were forced into it.

It looks like then the system failure caused the first gondola to not lock onto the main cable and so when it was restarted was attached to neither system. Could be an indication of the system being run too close to capacity.

What is promising however is that at least in this situation guests could be rescued by relatively easily by fire truck and not by aerial line access teams

It makes you wonder what the checks involve as a lot of vlogers have reported issues on the media days. Those poor people must be so scared.
My thoughts exactly, saw this on another thread and it sounds like everyone is okay

Glass all over the floor in the station where one has smashed into another. Hope no one was inside it.
Not good, indicates a problem somewhere. How long will it be shut before they make safety changes?
The safety kits at least have ‘human waste containers’ in them- “Please close your eyes folks”

The solution to evacuating over water would seem to be zip lining according to Twitter reports

I’ve just seen the images here, cruisingtheparks/2019/10...king-incident/

Hopefully everyone is okay but this is not what they need a few days after opening, they’ll need to do some convincing to get public trust back up. As many have said not only is the incident bad but also those stuck on the line for 4hrs plus, if it was during the day how hot would they get.

ETA. Think they were stuck around 2hrs actually was watching twitter last night and conflicting info coming through. They are all off now.

Apparently they have waste bags and water in an emergency pack under the seats.
