Toronto RV Hire/Trip Help

We have family in Toronto and Cleveland, OH and the plan for next year is to visit them both rather than Disney

There's 4 of us: Myself, wife and 2 kids who will be 11 and 9.

Planning to Fly into Toronto, stay in a hotel there and visit family for a few days, then travel down to Ohio, stopping at various places on the way like Niagara, Finger Lakes etc.

We were originally thinking of hiring a car and staying in hotel/motel but as a money saving idea we thought maybe we could stay in a hotel in Toronto then hire an RV and travel down to Ohio, stopping off at places and staying in the RV then driving back to Toronto for the return flight.

Wondering if anyone has done anything similar or any advice at all really, best places to hire from, things to watch out for or simply a this is a crazy idea because whatever!

We have flown into Toronto and taken a hire car and driven down to visit the wife's parents in Southern Indiana.

We did a couple of nights at Niagara falls on the way down. Did all touristy things eg Maid of the mIst (got soaked), tunnels under the falls, helicopter trip, Gondola over the whirlpool. After checking out of the hotel before driving down to Ohio we went and had a walk around the falls on the American side (Goat Island) which gives a different view. You can save parking charges by parking in streets near the Comfort Inn & red Coach Inn alongside goat island and walking across a pedestrian bridge to Goat Island

We also did a couple of themes parks on the way down and back - Cedar Point in Sandusky Ohio & Kings Island in Cincinnati . theme parks are only open daily during the Summer and then open weekends in Sept & Oct.

Cedar Point has more coasters than any park in orlando !

We generally stayed in Hampton Inn hotels, however in Niagara stayed at the Embassy Suites with a falls view room.

On hire cares make sure you can take them into the USA and still get unlimited mileage, we rented through Alamo.

We flew Air Transat Glasgow to Toronto and they must have the most cramped seat layout possible ! but were cheap !

We visited in October.

When entering the USA over the rainbow bridge land crossing you did not need an ESTA, but had to park the car and go into the office and fill out a form. Not sure if this has changed ?
