World mental health day 2019

I hope this is okay to post... Here goes its gonna be a waffle but hopefully by reading this others will see its okay to admit you arnt okay... This is me reflecting back to a similar post on here a couple of years ago and how it helped me more than most people will ever know. I was on holiday with my partner and my little girl in Majorca where I thought I was happy when I read that post early in the morning whilst everyone else I was with were sleeping soundly and was in floods of tears but it was the point I knew I had to get help again for my mental health again, I'd had issues years back I think triggered by post natal depression but over the years I'd dealt with it or so I thought... Anyway I went to see my GP and immediately sat and sobbed but it was a release and the start of my mental health improving... I started taking antidepressants which I still take and they do help... A lot! , I also started pretty quickly a round of CBT therapy which also helped and I still dip in and out of that advice and support when I feel it's needed. Two years on I've had ups and downs but things are improving, I find it easier to talk about my feelings now than I ever did and I think I'm a better person to be around.

Anyway I'm not looking for praise for talking about things but hoping more than that that my little post will get other talking and looking for help and support like that post did for me... So thank you guys sincerely you all helped on that thread so much 😘😘😘

Lovely post, I do wish all GPs where as good. I had an horrendous time trying to get my daughter the help she needed and had to eventually change doctors in order to her her depression diagnosed. Even self harming didn't convince the original doctor she needed help 🤬

I am pretty sure most people have experienced mental health issues, either ourselves or through family members, maybe we shouldn't take things at face value and be more understanding of each other
