Seat booking - flights to Thailand
Hi. It's the age old question of whether to pay to sit together...we are 2A 2K ages 13 and 10. It's important to be sat at least in pairs.
Flying Emirates Manchester to Dubai and then to Bangkok. After few days in Bangkok we fly there to Phuket on Bangkok Airlines. It's this flight I'm most worried about. It appears the Emirates bit may be ok. Searching online, and VH advice is that they usually are good and sit you together and we can select free at online check-in. If paying it's unclear if we pay once per direction or twice, or each flight. It's the Bangkok to Phuket one I'm concerned with and think we'll pay, at least for now. I'm thinking smaller plane, less choice, we'll be mid holiday with limited access to on-line check-in so too risky to leave. Any experience? |

I flew with Bangkok Airways to Koh Samui. I didn’t pay and I just chose our seats when we checked in online. I sat with my partner with no issues at all. I don’t have kids so I don’t know how it would work, but it’s going to be a really short flight from Bangkok to Phuket so even if you are split up as a family (I.e one adult one kid etc.) it would only be for an hour.
I’d probably chance it but if you are worried then I’d just pay and you don’t have to worry about it then! I checked in online using their app if that helps and did it during our holiday ☺️ |

Oh and re: Emirates if you pay you have to pay for each leg so you’d have to pay London - Dubai then Dubai - Bangkok and then the same on return so it adds up!

Don’t assume it will be a small plane - we flew Bangkok to Phuket a few years ago on Thai International and it was a 747! It’s a very popular route. I wouldn’t bother buying seats you’ll be fine at online check in - every place we’ve stayed in Thailand has always had great WiFi.
