Mobile Manchester with kids

Hi guys, my son is a huge coronation street fan so we are booking him the tour for his birthday. However it’s a good drive from where we live so want to stay over night, can anyone recommend a family friendly hotel in Manchester? Also to make a weekend of it, what else can we do? Our boys are 13 & 11.

Theres a football museum if your boys like football
MOSI (Museum of Science and Industry) is good
Trafford Centre if you want some shopping!
Legoland and Sealife Centre
Inflatanation play park
Chillfactore if fancy skiing or skydive simulator
2 crazy golfs at Trafford Centre, one indoor, one outside.
Imperial war museum

Hotel wise, plenty to choose from! Might be worth looking around Media City area if you want to be near the Coronation Street set. There's a direct tram from there into the city centre.

If you find a hotel you fancy let me know and I will tell you if think suitable! I tend to go for Premier Inns for that type of weekend as you know what you are getting!

There's a Premier Inn on there and Holiday Inn.
There are plenty of options for evening meals around there as well and a cinema in the Lowry outlet. Look if there's anything suitable on at the Lowry while you are there!

We did a trip in the summer with our two, the football musuem was a big hit and good value for money, we also did chill factore which was great fun.
Theres a couple of premier inns within walking distance of the studios! The imperial war museum is next door, its free and a great way to kill a couple of hours! We also went and played crazy golf at printworks, theres loads of places to eat around there.

The Holiday Inn at Media City is perfect to do all you have mentioned. Its almost right next to ITV and the Coronation Street set. The is also the Imperial War Museum just a couple of minutes walk over the bridge, the CBBC interactive tour at Media City along with lots of other shows that may be on that you can request tickets for. The Lowry theatre is also right by the hotel so there may be something on there of interest. Also, if you are interested in football, Old Trafford is only 5-10 minutes walk away. There is also the Lowry Outlet and a Vue theatre just right by. Lots of bars and restaurants to suit all tastes outside the hotel too as is the tram stop directly into the centre of Manchester. Its a great place to stop.

Staying outside the city is good idea and using the tram to the centre is good value on a weekend. In addition to what has been mentioned there is also the science museums in Manchester. So lots for a family to do .

I usually go for Travelodge or premier Inn when visiting friends in Manchester. We've just booked a premier Inn for late November. Chill factore or play factore are good. Big play area in play factore with Lazer tag and zip line and up to age 16 in play area due to the slides (lots of fathers can be seen on these mind you).
